The bar wasn’t crowded, per se, but it was feeling like it. Emilie had been here for a little under an hour, trying to get the last juice out of her weekend, if you will, when this guy kept hovering around. It wasn’t like she wasn’t here just to try and find someone to spend a night with and call it good before starting her new job on Monday, but she trusted her gut and her gut told her this guy was scum. And she had a stomach for these sorts of things.
”Just let me buy you a drink, no harm!”
Emilie pursed her lips, trying to remain pleasant though he was leaning in too close to her again. She could smell the liquor on him and the desire. Turning her face away, she forced a soft smile and shook her head.
”No, thank you. I’m, uh… I’m waiting for my husband. He should be here any minute.”
The guy scoffed and stepped back; looking at her as though he couldn’t believe his ears.
”I think you’re lying! C’mon, girlie. Just one drink.”
Her skin crawled where she felt his breath on her neck; his hand moving to touch along her spine as she shrank away and looked hopefully to the door. Most guys here were already with dates, or creeping on other women like this guy was. She didn’t have much option other than leaving and frankly she wasn’t quite keen on leaving alone especially if she was going to have this dude shadowing her the whole time.
”No, I’d rather not. Thank you.”
Turning her head and shifting her body away from him, she glanced up just in time to see someone come walking in. He was tall, handsome, and well… by the looks of it, single. She didn’t see another gal on him, and the way he was looking around was more getting lay-of-the-land, not searching-for-someone. Drawing her lip in between her teeth, she pushed off the bar as the guy ordered her a drink anyway.
As the creep at the bar turned around, he noticed the empty air beside him. Surprised, he looked up and around just in time to watch the blonde he was hitting on wrap her arms around the neck and shoulders of the GQ model at the door and pull his head down to hers in a passionate kiss. The guy scowled and snatched the drink he intended for her, shooting it back himself before glaring quickly over to the happy couple one more time.
Just his luck.
”There you are! What took you so long?!” Emilie called just before her mouth hit his. One hand drew his head to her, the other wrapped around his shoulders to help lift herself up high enough to reach. She was desperate, and therefore bold.
As she peeled herself away just enough, Emilie lifted her eyes up to look at him through the thick veil of her lashes. She was still close enough to smell the mint of her gum on her breath. ”Is he leaving yet?”
