A Miriana and Evangeline RF
SEPTEMBER 4, 2016
Miri: -it's the day before classes start and Miri is enjoying the momentary calm as she hums, sketchbook in hand, walking to one of the more secluded courtyards to hide away-
Evangeline: -shes out on a walk, admiring and picking the last of the lingering summer flowers-
Miri: -she comes around the corner and only barely misses running into Evangeline, her sketchbook falls and the loose papers go everywhere- Oh! Shoot that was close! -shes trying to grab to the pages before the float away-
Evangeline: -she raises a brow as she looks to the girl, reaching up and catching a few pages, looking them over before she hands them to her- You should carry a zip binder for these. Wouldn't want to lose them to a strong wind or something.
Miri: -she catches the last few pages and smiles brightly at the darkhaired girl as she takes the pages and slips them into her book- Thank you! That's prob'ly a good idea. I keep meanin too but then I get distracted... -she shrugs slightly- I'm Miriana
Evangeline: -she smiles to her- Well, Switzerland can be very breezy, so try not to forget before you lose all of those lovely sketches. -she gives her a nod- Evangeline.
Miri: This is true -she laughs before flushing slightly as she always does when someone compliments her work- ah, thanks. it's about all i do all summer unless Adam drags me away early. do you like to draw?
Evangeline: -she smirks softly at the blush and nods- Well, that explains the sketchbook then, doesn't it. -she chuckles and shakes her head- I rarely do. Too many summers spent with a stuffy grandmother who insisted I paint on teacups.
Miri: Yup! -she tilts her head slightly, blonde hair falling off her shoulder- Paintin' teacups? That don't sound like fun.
Evangeline: Oh merlin it was torture. -she laughs softly and moves to her, hooking her arm in the girls with a smile and leading them to wander around- They're such tiny little things it's nearly _impossible_ to see what you're painting until it's right at the end of your nose.
Miri: -she blinks as evangeline hooks their arms, but she lets the other girl lead them- I think I'd be really sucky at that. -she laughs- Too intricate. The only intricate thing I'm good at is charms
Evangeline: I think the only people who are good at it are little old women who've been doing it their whole live. -she smiles and strolls along with her, leaning down and grabbing one of the few remaining flowers- Thats a very good thing to be good at.
Miri: I think that's prolly true -she laughs softly, shifting her sketchbook to her free arm- Charms is fun once you look outside the box with it. Most people just take the spells they learn and that's it. I like to twist them around and create other things...see what is actually possible... -she laughs again- i'm sorry, i'm ramblin'
Evangeline: Ah, you must be a Corvus then, creating your own spells and charms. -she smiles and shakes her head, patting her arm- Not at all. Your accent is really quite charming, so I don't mind the ramble. Besides, how else are we going to get to know each other?
Miri: I am -she grins before the slight flush again, she's not used to people complimenting her accent- Oh..thanks. I'm from Louisiana. Mostly back in the states, people just treat me like I'm stupid because of my accent -she shrugs- And you're....German? Or Dutch? I mix those two up all the time
Evangeline: Well thats just silly. Speech has nothing to do with stupidity, it's the mind that should be paid attention to. -she nods softly at the first- German. My family is from Berlin and Munich. It would sound much thicker, but I've put in some practice to get it a little softer. -she laughs-
Miri: 'Murica. That's how we do. -she smiles slightly- Ah, that must be why it threw me off some. Normally the German accents are thiiick. It probably helps bein' a school like this one with people from all over
Evangeline: M...Murica..? -she laughs at the nickname for the states- I tend to slip in and out of it. When I'm upset or overly excited about something you can barely understand what I'm saying half the time. -she smiles and nods- It does. Who knows, perhaps by the end of the year I'll have you sounding like a German and I'll be able to talk like an American. -she laughs-
Miri: -she grins at her pause over the slang before laughing softly again- Maybe! That'd be interestin' to go on home with a German accent. People would be hella confused. But slang is always fun!
Evangeline: Well then lets start now, shall we? When you go home for break, right before you come back, just...look at everyone and say "Bis nächstes Mal!" -she smiles and nudges her arm softly- I promise it's nothing bad. It just means 'Until next time' for goodbyes, instead of Auf Wiedersehn, because everyone knows that one.
Miri: -she blinks as she tries to follow what she says- Bis...bis na what now?
Evangeline: -she chuckles softly and turns to her, stopping- Bis...nächstes...Mal. -she speaks slower so she has a moment to remember the enunciation-
Miri: -she looks up at her, watching the way she pronounces it- Bis nac...nächstes...Mal -she works on the way it feels when she says it which is weird- Bis nächstes Mal.... and that means, that means 'until next time' ?
Evangeline: -she smiles brightly and tucks the flower in Miri's hair, giving her a nod- Well done. And yes. That's one of our little slangs, though...not as amusing as Murica. -she laughs-
Miri: It sounds weird to say -she snorts softly blinking at the flower, but hey why not- I'll have to practice sayin' it so I don't mess up and say somethin' completely wrong. Not that anyone back home would know...it's either English or Romanian dependin'
Evangeline: Most German sounds weird to say. It's a very angry sounding tongue. -she laughs-
Miri: And yet it doesn't sound angry at all when you're speakin' it -she shifts her book slightly as she laughs softly-
Evangeline: I'll take that as a compliment. -she smiles-
Miri: Well good! It was supposed to be one after all
