¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER 12
Pushing her long blonde hair out of her face, Miriana took to the corridors. Her morning classes were already finished and she had some time to spare before her evening class. Owain had put the idea into her head the previous month to make a a manga, or at least something in that vein, and she had recently heard that they had a journalism teacher. Being bad at writing herself (not to mention most manga were written by one person and illustrated by another) she thought maybe this journalism person could help her. Or write the story. Or something.
Okay, so she hadn't really thought it through all the way and was acting on creative impulse.
Sketchbook in hand as always, she made her way through the school to find this mysterious person. About twenty minutes into her search she realised something important: She had no idea where the journalism room was. Or what the teacher even looked like.
Stopping in her search, she looked around with a look of slight bewilderment.
Maybe I should have thought this through a little first....

Teaching wasn't something Nils had ever really thought he would be doing. And honestly, when it came to Journalism class he hardly thought it would be considered teaching anyhow. He spent most of the time looking over writing and telling kids what was tabloid and what was not. The two most eager students were certainly interested in the tabloid aspect, no doubt. They spent a lot of time getting gossip organized. Which, while he was a bigger fan of in depth journalism, he found encouraging. At least these kids wanted to write something.
Class was only one day a week so it wasn't too much of a hassle. But he did make sure to get there early so he had time to come up with a lesson plan. And to write for his actual job. The class period was twice as long as the usual, with a short break in the middle (if they weren't on a roll) and it usually gave him time to work on his own. But there was something calming about the school atmosphere. He hadn't attended in near six years but the nostalgia of the halls was something you couldn't ignore.
Speaking of the halls. "You lost, honey?" The slim blonde looked absolutely confused as she wandered down the hall. He stood in the doorway to his classroom as he spoke to her, his tall frame taking up much of the space.

¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER As she turned to try and figure out which way she should start looking, a voice sounded behind her. Turning back around, her hair spun out slightly before she pushed it back again to regard the guy talking to her. He was tall, but not in one of those obnoxiously skinny sort of ways, filling up the door frame that he was leaning against. She shifted her sketchbook slightly in her hands.
"It appears so." Her American accent rolled off her lips as she looked back down the hall before bringing her eyes back to the handsome stranger in front of her. Miriana was trying to figure out if she had seen him before...A new student maybe? Honestly, sometimes she got so caught up in art she completely missed out on what was going on around her.
"I'm tryin' to find the journalism teacher, but then I realized I don't even know where their classroom would be..." She frowned slightly. This was definitely something she should have asked Owain if he knew. Or hell, even Evangeline. But nope, she had to go in search on a whim. Suits her right.

Her speech pattern instantly caught his attention. Ah, something he missed about being a student at Beauregard was the different nationalities. Obviously she was Southern United States. Where, exactly, he couldn't say. But at least he understood the region.
"You a journalism student?" Obviously she wasn't, but he was curious. If she was looking for the classroom then she might be a prospective student. That or she was trying to see the tall young professor. He wasn't overly egotistical about his appearance. But he knew that he wasn't unattractive. And he knew that schoolgirls found any reason to hit on a professor. It didn't matter if they were older. And he was just within age of them.
"Shouldn't all the journalism students know where the classroom is?" Had he not been blocking most of the doorway she would have been able to see in and notice all the newspaper articles strewn across his desk.

¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER Well didn't he have a cute accent? Except that lead her down a train of thought she wasn't willing to go. Because it was stupid and nerve wrecking.
Was she a journalism student? Miriana couldn't help but laugh as she shook her head. "No, No I suck at writin'." Really, she knew that if she put her mind to it completely she wouldn't have as many problems, but that took time away from other things she enjoyed like drawing and Charms. Still though, she couldn't help the way her cheeks flushed at saying that to a stranger. It wasn't something she really meant to slip out.
"No, I was tryin' to see..." Trailing off, she realized how stupid it sounded. At least, when she imagined someone else hearing it it sounded stupid. Why had she thought this was a good idea again? And why was she explaining herself to this guy? "Uh, nothin'. Look, do you know where I can find 'em?"

WORDS "I'm sure that's not true." He chuckled, crossing his arms as he looked down at her. Granted, some people weren't good writers. In fact some people were practically impossible to read. But as far as he was concerned no one sucked. If they were trying they were doing well. The best they could anyhow.
She flushed and he bit back a bit of a smile. She seemed a mousy type. Not super sure of herself. But she seemed sweet. He let her go on for a moment before chuckling and pushing himself off of the door frame.
"Actually, I am him." Nils nodded back into the classroom. "Journalism professor Nils Svennson at your service. Don't call me professor though. Nils."

¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER Miri opened her mouth to explain what she meant before shutting it. She had no reason to explain herself to someone she didn't know. Or even people she did know. Dealing with words and letters were a headache.
She tilted her head as he pushed off the doorframe before blinking at his next words.
This was the journalism teacher? This was the journalism teacher?
Looking past him at the room she could see the newspapers articles and what not. Then she looked back up at him and back at the room.
”You? Really? I was expectin like Jonah Jameson, not Clark Kent.” As soon as the words left her mouth she wanted to shoot herself. So instead she quickly moved on, ”I wanna make a manga series or y'know like one of those books with drawins strown throughout... but I dunno what to do for the story because I'm bad at writin. It gives me a headache because the letters don’ like to sit still.” She shifted slightly as she looked at him.

WORDS
Nils actually laughed out loud after he registered what she had said. Of course he knew what she was talking about. Comics were actually one of the things that got him into writing. And the comparison of Jameson to his boss had crossed his mind a time or two.
"So you're looking for a writer? Did you want to sit in on my class and scope out the students?" That sounded like a worthy cause if he had heard one. He was sure students would jump at the chance. He knew he would. But it was a bit odd to offer to work with a student on a nonprofessional level. "It's hard to handle writing if you're dyslexic, I will give you that. I can't imagine how hard some of the classes must be. If you want to meet some students, I can help."

¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER The guy laughed and she couldn't help the slight mortified feeling. Mortified that he caught what she said and understood the reference, and at the same time a slight delighted smile crossed her lips at the fact that he understood it.
"I suppose I am?" Miriana looked back the room behind him. Scope out the people in there? Honestly, she didn't think that was going to be too good of an idea. Her shoulders raised in a slight shrug at his comment about dyslexia. It wasn't a comfortable topic really, especially with new people. "Ah, yeah sometimes they suck. But the professors here are pretty good at helpin'. Well, most at least." Professor Pierce for example just enjoyed throwing her to the wolves. "But uh...the only people I knew that are in here...well Vanna is more int'rested in plants and Aiden....yeah no thanks. Too much of the time spent would be him tryin' to get in my pants."
Looking back again, she shifted slightly. "Can you maybe help me? I mean, I'm sure you're busy and all, so if you say no that's ok. I can always figure somethin' else out. An art book maybe." She tilted her head in a side to side motion. When it came to some things like trying to figure out to be around some people she could be really unsure. Especially when she would worry about how Jaxon would react to things. Not that they were together. But get her started on art and it was a completely different side of her that came out.

WORDS
Nils couldn't help but nod in response to what she had to say. No, he knew from experience that some of the professors weren't going to be as helpful as others. Something he hated when he was a student as well. And her comment about Aiden almost made him snort, but he contained any thought he had about the student. It was an apt description though, if he had to be honest.
Then her words caught him by surprise and he stared for a moment before responding.
"Me? You want me to help?" He calmed himself a little as he spoke. While the prospect sounded fun, it wasn't really what he had expected. Most students wanted help from other students. Or at least tried. "Honey, you have to be more discerning. You don't even know if I write well." Of course he did. "Or that I would write something you would be interested in."

¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER Miriana couldn't help but shift as he stared at her. If truth be told, she wasn't the greatest at reading people. Sometimes she could get things right, but a lot of the time she was never quite sure what a person's notice was or what they were thinking.
Nils seemed surprised, but she didn't understand why.
”Well, yeah? I mean...Maybe I'm assumin’ you can write considerin’” She switched her sketchbook into one hand so she could vaguely wave at his classroom. ” I dunno...You got my reference?” Her cheeks flushed slightly again. She still couldn't believe she had said that. ”You don't have a story you wanna write, Nils? I guess maybe then I can just….creepily watch people and hope someone takes me seriously.”

WORDS
"Considering the professor position?" He chuckled just the slightest. Wasn't a far reach. But it didn't mean he had anything she wanted to draw. Or that he was good at creative writing. The idea did intrigue him though. And she seemed to be very hopeful. How could he say not to a girl this sweet? "I think you should sit in on class, maybe. Then you can decide. I just think you should see others writing and see if anything inspires you. You haven't even said what sort of story would interest you."

¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER Miriana nodded her head slightly with a soft smile. Obviously him being the professor for journalism would bring about her assumption. "Fine, I guess I can do that. Although, I still hold to what I first said. And if i'm stuck with Aiden, I'll make you suffer for it." Another slight smile because they both knew she would only end up working with Aiden if she picked it and she wouldn't. "Have you...already had your class today? I actually don' gotta clue when it is."
Lifting her sketchbook up to hold against her chest she gave him a slight smirk. "A good story? Who knows if you you or anyone else likes my art style?" She raised an eyebrow at him.

WORDS
As she spoke he couldn't help the bit of a smile. She was a sassy one. He would give her that. And she seemed to really want to do this project. "Class is in a bit," He laughed,"And I would never subject Aiden on anyone who didn't want it." That and from the writing he'd read from both of the gossip rag writers, he knew they weren't this girls style. She had a way about her.
"Well do you want fantasy or realistic?"

¤ @nils ¤ OCTOBER "Well then....can I come in the room or do I have to stand out here?" She smiled slightly. Aiden subjected himself enough on people that didn't want it without needing the extra help. and she was pretty sure a professor wouldn't do that anyways.
At least she'd hope not.
"Fantasy I guess, if I had to choose between the two. Or urban fantasy." Miri looked down at her sketchbook before holding it out so he could look through it. Nothing in there was for a comic or anything, but it was as good as any example of her drawing style. Her eyes went back up to him. "If you laugh though, I might cry." Another obvious joke.
