WAY BACK WHEN...
[ HISTORY ]
Chen was born during a hectic time for AshLe and Cameron Lace. They had just gotten the bar up and running when Ashle had told Cameron she was pregnant. With the stress of both the bar and having a baby on the way things became strained and Cameron hadn't even been sure he'd wanted a child at that time. Chen's birth was a slow process, but once it was over, everything was well. The lovely couple fell in love with the child immediately, Cameron even more so. Chen was a happy bubbly baby, healthy in every way that a child could be. He wasn't much of a crier even at such a young age but his laugh could light up a room. The lovely couple doted on Chen at any possible chance. He was a fast learner and incredibly determined, they found out, as he learned to walk and began speaking. Cameron had decided to try teaching Chen how to walk by calling to him. Both parents watched as time after time when he would fall, he would get back up and try again to walk into his father's arms. He was a delight to have around and the couple raised him with nothing but love and care.
When Chen was 11, his Beauregard letter arrived and he'd never been so excited about anything in his young life. He'd heard of many of his mother and fathers' adventures at wizarding school and he'd been awaiting the day that he could attend. He rushed his parents to start all of the shopping, huffing at the trying on dress robes and marveling at getting his wand from the local wand shop. He was so excited that the night before his departure he stayed up all night, unable to sleep from his excitement. The arrival at the train station had him in awe, with all of his future classmates swarming around him with their parents, just as he was. Just before he boarded the train, his father and mother both gave him a pep talk about the houses, but of course, he wasn't really listening. He kissed them both goodbye and boarded just before the train left. His arrival at the school didn't lessen his excitement, everything was just as magical as he'd heard about. Once he was lined up to undergo the Sorting Hat ceremony, he got a little nervous. He'd forgotten what his parents had said about the houses so he didn't have a set house in mind. The only thing that came to mind before the hat was sat upon his head was red. He'd seen a student on the train with a red and grey scarf on. The Hat wasn't on his head for long before it announced Vulpecula. The Vulpecula students cheered so he decided that it was a good thing that he'd gotten it. He sent an owl to his parents immediately about his house and they'd told him how proud they'd been of him.
Throughout his years of schooling, Chen made many friends and developed a love for magical creatures and charms, even going as far to pondering a career as a healer alongside his aspiration to take over the bar. Now in his sixth year, Chen is the same old same old, he just wants to have fun. Drama isn't really his cup of tea, but if someone wants to start it, he will gladly finish it and he's always there to stand up for the underdog.
