Jérémie woke up in a good mood. Classes had been going well with the younger students, and that was always a plus. It was nice to see minds that were ready to soak up real knowledge. And so far teaching at Beauregard had been working out better than his job in America. That was really to be expected though. He had graduated from this school after all.
It was amusing to see that some professors like Pippindorio were still here. And to find that Margot had taken up a teaching position also in Muggle Studies. It was a subject he could appreciate since it incorporated Muggle history as well in some ways.
Getting to his classroom early, he sipped on his coffee as he pulled out the syllabuses. They weren't filled with information, excepting a few rules. Other than that it was blank. In his opinion, sixteen and seventeen year olds were more than capable of figuring out their own shit.
As the class filed in, he took another sip of coffee, looking over them as they sat in their seats. A few even pulled out books. He smirked softly as he set down his cup and picked up the papers and began passing them out.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to a new year at Beauregard. I will be your new History of Magic professor, Professor Keller. While this is my first year teaching here, I'm no stranger to these halls. I also attended school here." A slight smile crossed his face as he handed out the almost blank papers. "I have been informed that your studies until now have mostly been memorizing the supposed facts presented in your course book. This is not how things will be run in my class."
With the papers passed out, he turned and went back to the front. Another sip of his coffee and he turned to face them once more, leaning against his desk. "History means nothing if you are not inquiring after the knowledge yourself. Otherwise you're just copying and pasting. Some of you may find this year easy. Others, who have depended on the mindless expectation of not having to put effort in maybe find this a challenge. I can't say I'm sorry, except that your previous Professor allowed you to believe you could skate by in life and you believed it."
He wondered how many of these students would fizzle out this year from having to actually put effort into this class. "I am, of course, always available for assistance if and when any of you need it. You need only ask. Now! The other difference in this class is that i will be incorporating some Muggle History in it as well. In order to properly function in this world and not give away the secrets that the Ministry holds so dear, you have to have at least a basic understanding of the way big events panned out on the Muggle front. Does anyone have any questions so far?"

He could not afford to be late to class, and to miss it for a third day was unacceptable. Toby had never been this off so early into school he had never missed classes before but yet here he is skateboarding the empty halls late as all Hell.
History class though, if it was the same teacher from last semester he wouldn't be worried the dude was as old as his Great Great Uncle Thad The Mad, he smiled thinking about the two of them sitting together in the same classes long ago. Toby brought the skateboard to a sliding halt then stepped off using the other foot to pop it into his hand.
Always with grand entrances Toby smashed through the door playing electric guitar with his skateboard, "Please stand in attendance witches and wizards and welcome WARWYK! Sorry Mister," Toby stopped mid sentence and the smile dropped from his face, "Dude? Shite did he die?! I loved that old man."
Toby tried to force a smile, "Uh should I just shut up and take a seat?"

History.
This was one of the subjects Abbie had anticipated liking when she had started here at Beauregard considering what her parents did for a living, but it had been an absolute snore. The old professor hadn’t seemed to really give a shit. No, that wasn’t fair. He wasn’t terrible. In fact many of the students had an easy time in his class and enjoyed it and the professor had been quite popular among the younger students, but Abbie had been bored. She hadn’t been challenged. The same enthusiasm she had had as a child when her father would tell her a story was lost in this classroom. It was what steered her toward Ancient Ruins in her fifth year.
So when she stepped in to History of Magic early in the morning on her seventh year, she was surprised and perhaps hopeful to see a new face leading the way. She slid her pack off her shoulder and took her customary seat in the front, closest to the windows, and dropped her eyes immediately down to the paper the new professor was handing out. She took hers and skimmed her eyes over it quickly; noting the scant amount of information provided. Just a handful of common sense rules of decency and respect.
Intrigued, Abbie set the page down and leaned forward; crossing her legs under her desk and lacing her fingers together and propping her chin on their bridge as Professor Keller continued.
As he waited for questions, Abbie started to raise her hand when Toby came skating into class; kicking up his board and announcing his arrival like he was King. Abbie snorted and rolled her eyes; shaking her head at the guy’s tardiness. AGAIN. At least he wasn’t outright missing class again? Nah, Abbie decided as she turned back to face the front of class. It’d be less disruptive anyway. But hey… as dopey as Toby would be you just couldn’t hate the guy.
And he could get some pretty good weed in a pinch.
”Great first impression, Greenly,” Abbie teased with a small shake of her head; though her smirk was apparent as she gestured to the empty desk behind her.
Turning her eyes back up to the new professor, she waited until the moment was right again before raising her hand.
”Professor Keller, how do we get to determine what we focus on? For example, say I wanted to focus on the Plagues or the Fire of Alexandria but Greenly wants to focus on the Croatoan or the Holocaust? Like you said it’s been several years of regurgitating the textbook and it seems like a lot to make up for in a year.”
At least it was only a year for her.
