WAY BACK WHEN...
[ HISTORY ]
Alaric was, and still very much is, an incredibly bright and brilliant individual. He took to learning and theorizing as easy as breathing. But his brilliance was soon overshadowed. He was 13 when he had first mentioned that he could see things. The future, the past, things that could happen and things that would.
He had thought that his family, his parent and his brother, the people who were supposed to protect him, to love him, and to be there for him, would do just that. That they would find him someone to train him, to help him learn to control and navigate his gift.
Instead the people who were supposed to love him, use him for themselves. Forcing him to look day after day into the future, for money, for fame, for anything they could get out of him. By the time a year had passed he was a shadow of himself, unable to focus, to keep a stright line of conversation. Eventually the visions had started flooding his daily life. Small at first. A glimpse of something here. A snippet there. Dates on newspapers would shift and he would see the next days, the next months..
When he hit 16, the visions went from a nuisance, to a plague. He had become unstable, and not wanting to deal with him unless they had to, his parents had put him in an institution. They would visit only to make him look for them, to give them more. Never for his wellbeing, to try and fix the damage they had done. Because for a Seer to look on purpose, instead of accept a vision, to speak of what they saw to those who had no business knowing, was the equivalent of sticking his psyche in a blender on puree.
The institution has been his home ever since. Despite his rather obvious problems, Kasch had allowed him to continue attending Beauregard despite his declining mental state. Something that though he couldn't quite figure out how to thank him for without his words muddied by nonsense and madness that made sense only to him, he was eternally grateful for.
