Can't you see they turn blind eyes? [October 13th]
Integra was never going to get over the feeling of being at peace here. "Peaceful" wasn't exactly a term that surfaced when trying to describe anything to do with Integra. Beauregard was, however, a nice stretch of her limbs and her mind. She'd been right about asking to attend and going through all the work to get here. Despite her less than soothing attitude, Integra felt the need to detox from the chaos that she'd been brought up in. Now that she was a little older, a little wiser, and someone had for once listened to her request for a challenge, she was free to put her mind to things less childish. While he younger days were spent causing trouble for her peers or sleeping around, she had decided that this was going to be the year she turned things around. Focused on becoming a skilled witch with talents immeasurable. There was a burning desire inside her to cultivate all her knowledge and breed it into success. Perhaps in doing so she could find a good career with room for growth or write a book? The possibilities were endless.
Looking into the open door of the classroom changed her perspective rather quickly. Within the classroom was a professor; a potions master. His help was what she was after initially. It had come to her attention that he strongly believed in a more lax and individualized method for learning. He believed in less structure and more tailored guidance; things Integra was all for. The hang back was that this particular professor was also strikingly beautiful in her eyes, which very quickly bubbled up until the trigger reactions she'd grown accustomed to extinguished her flaming thirst for knowledge. "To hell with turning a new leaf," she thought, but quickly shook the feelings off and pushed gently on the door.
"Professor Strege? You're not busy are you?"

Ezra Winchester was making great strides in potion making. Though still behind where he would like to see her it was better than no progress at all. Mihaela was also making headway and he was pleased with that as well. All of his students seemed to be doing rather well and that actually made him quite excited. His plans that were put into place had been working and Gunnar couldn't be more proud. There were a few things that caused set back. Rhett's suicide attempt being one of them. This wave of uneasiness had affected a few students of his, but he was always going to be there. Until they managed to hire a Guidance and Grief Counselor, he would be there for the students that needed him.
Looking up from the most recent workload, few files laying out on his desk he heard and then spotted Integra Echoes. She was a bright student, but who was he kidding? They all were fairly bright, who was he kidding? Granted Integra had a reputation and he was hoping that it wouldn't carry over to Beauregard. That is what Kasch had mentioned and with Adam being let go over screwing a student, it hit the moral hard, but it had to be done.
"Hello Miss Echoes, is there something I can help you with?" After running his pen over the paper in front of him, Gunnar set it aside to give her his full attention.

Can't you see they turn blind eyes? If she was really serious about turning herself around, this may as well be her first test. The old Integra would have made passes at him without any hint of remorse or shame. "Real it in, Tegs." She reminded herself and approached his desk. It wasn't potions that she wanted to focus on though. She was actually rather talented at the craft. It came to her rather easily and wasn't something she was concerned about. Really her worst subject was probably charms or maybe defense against the dark arts. Integra was better at the more scientific based subjects like arythmancy.
"I was hoping you could help me with something I was reading about." she wanted his help with a lot of things. Some of which were likely illegal in some parts of the world. All of which were definitely not allowed here at school. Midway through speaking she had to once again remind herself to stay focused. He was the head of her house and she was supposed to be able to come to him with questions. On second thought this was going to be a lot harder than she had expected. "I need to know what you know about Legilimency and how to do it?" her lips curled into an almost flirtatious smile. Some things were hard to hold back.

Quickly Gunnar had found himself leaning back in his chair and watching as she moved. As head of house and the potions master, he held a very unique position. While most of the students in his house wouldn't normally come to him for educational type things, he couldn't help but raise a brow.
"I was hoping you could help me with something I was reading about."
"I'm sure, if I can't we could find someone who can Miss Echoes." Gunnar pushed his hair back as he waited for her to spout off what she needed to tell him.
"I need to know what you know about Legilimency and how to do it?"
Legilimency. Of course Gunnar wasn't about to turn away a student looking to forward their knowledge. It was an odd request, but sure it wasn't too out of the blue.
"I know a fair amount about Legilimency and Occlumency. But I would rather know why you need to harness this knowledge. What do you plan to use it for?" It was a fair question. Gunnar needed to make sure that the students were protected before all else. If Integra was going to use this tool for demise, then he wouldn't be able to provide her with that education. It wasn't that he didn't want to. His actions were more to protect the school from anything. Especially where the ministry was concerned.

Can't you see they turn blind eyes? His question was indeed fair, but her trigger reaction was to be offended by the assumption. How dare anyone think she had less than savory motives involving her learning to read minds. She even so much as opened her mouth to irritatedly defend herself. More than ready to let him have the best of her attitude, Integra caught herself and took a deep breath, put on a soft smile and rested her fingertips lightly on the edge of his desk.
"To be fair, Professor, I am very well aware that my reputation precedes me greatly." Change was hard. Change was good.
Integra found herself questioning if she could push herself as far as to open up to a teacher; to tell him things she only told those she found worthy of her secrets. Did he have the merit of a man who wouldn't judge her? She hoped beyond hope that he did. "My... intentions with legilmency are more personal and private than I care to admit, but are not nefarious in any way." Maybe he'd buy that as an explanation so she didn't have to get too deep into it.

Shook his head. "That wasn't what I was referring to. I'm not worried about your past or what you have done, but what I am worried about is your intention. Personal and Private can create terrible results. If you're doing this for the pure knowledge of knowing how to do it, then all is well. But you have to remember that someone who doesn't know that you're using it can be viewed as an attack on another wizard, I will not be the one responsible for teaching this to you. So I want you to understand that if your intentions are spiteful, in any way, or I find out that they are? Then I will be done teaching you, and I will not be held responsible."
Gunnar took pride in his work and was rather serious about that. "I will have to have you sign some paperwork after I talk to Kasch, but once I turn that back into him, we can begin our lessons. So. Say a couple days from now?"

Can't you see they turn blind eyes? It came as a shock to Integra that he wasn't biased against the idea of teaching her based on her previous misguided choices. Perhaps her motivation for the thirst of this knowledge was a little corrupt. However, Tegs knew she was a good candidate for learning this particular skill. She was smart, and her ultimate goal in attending Bearegaurd was to learn as much as she could that she wasn't able to learn elsewhere. She was going to learn legilemancy with out without his help. Obviously this was going ot be easier with him helming her lessons.
"It's not spiteful. You have my word. I do, truly want to learn this. I want to be good at this. You can throw any... test of my character my way, I'll take it. I'll kiss the headmaster's ass as much as it takes. Literally, even."Turning her gaze to her hands, fingertips still resting on the surface of his desk, she took a deep breath. Lying was so easy, yet it required cunning and creativity. So why was being truthful so hard? The facts were there, no need to make things up. But she had never once been one hundred percent honest with someone who held authority over her; or anyone for that matter. Integra wasn't even certain she could do it without laughing or crying or throwing up.
Her thin finger moved to her left eyebrow, idly scratching the thin fleshy mark that ran through the outside edge. "Professor, I know all about attacks on other wizards. Trust me." Looking back up at him, she blinked away the painful memories of how she became the girl standing in front of him. Broken, untrusting, reckless and cold. All the thought's and feelings he'd see if he were intrusive enough to look for himself.

The potions master could see just how badly she wanted to learn this skill. It wasn't illegal to teach and it wasn't illegal to learn, so he had felt that it was definitely a good place to start. Sure Integra had her history, she had her flaws, but he'd be damned if he took that into persuasion. Everyone could do something terrible if they absolutely wanted to. Gunnar could do something terrible if he so pleased, but he chose not to. He had enough of the dark wizard bullshit and honestly he was here to teach.
"Very well. Miss Echoes." With a push of his long sandy brown locks, he offered her a smile. "I will let you know when I have permission for the head master, but it should be okay. We are a school of learning, it is our goal to teach. If you can dream it? Then it should be taught. Stunting your growth in education is far from what I wish to do."

Did he have to do that? Couldn't he... put a paper bag on his head? It took a great amount of focus to keep Integra from biting her lip, or doing something aggressively slutty. Her fingertips twitched a little and that was when she realized she'd been staring; and holding her breath. Coming out of her trance Integra tried on a smile.
It felt fake, like she was sucking up to him. Obviously she didn't have to. The professor was interested in her education, something she wasn't exactly used to. ”Thank you, Professor. I appreciate your help. So... How's this work? You talk to the headmaster and I come in after classes and we stare at each other or what ever?”
