WAY BACK WHEN...
[ HISTORY ]
Alice grew up in a respectable town with a respectable family. As two only children themselves, Rupert and Sara decided only to have one child. It was a very drab and bland plan they made. Safe really. Mr. and Mrs. Hallows made very well ssure they never got their noses dirty. Their beautiful little girl would grow up, marry someone only slightly wealthier than themselves and work in a quiet office where she would never find herself in any sort of trouble.
Alice had other plans. As she grew older, Alice, although playing by herself, had plenty of friends. Albeit imaginary, they were still friends to her. She spent many hours outside pretending that the birds all sang I a chorus with her and that the cat next door loved exactly the same amount of sugar in his tea as little Miss Alice! Apart from her little colorful life outside from the house, Alice filled her time reading. Once the lights in the street lamps outside came on, she had to come indoors. But she didn't much like being inside for her parents never listened to music and didn't read even the paper. They typically only read how to guides. So naturally, Alice followed suit and by the age of nine she was perfectly capable of rewiring the radio and in theory fixing the furnace. It wasn't until she found her mother's old charms text books did she begin focusing on preparing herself for Hogwarts.
Initially placed in Gryffindor, Alice mostly kept her head down and stuck to her studies. She never quite understood being placed in the house, as she didn't much find herself brave as her sorting suggested. In her fourth year she appealed to Dumbledore who suggested that she attend Beauregard next year. Starting her fifth year in a new school was not the most inviting idea, but she weathered through and found herself much happier there. She felt challenged and empowered.
Upon graduating, Alice took a desk job at Obscurus Books. It was a quiet safe job just like her parents had envisioned. She did happen to meet her husband there. They married and he started work in the department of magical law enforcement. They married a few years later in their early twenties and had a quiet home in the mountains of Switzerland. Unfortunately he passed away before they had any children and Alice was left alone once more. Taking a long look at her life, Alice realized she'd only been going through the motions of life and had always been alone. She hadn't even been Alice. Just who she thought she aught to be. That's when she decided to do something for herself. So she decided to start her own business and opened up a bookstore in Chillhorn.
