Alaric was having one of his worse days. A steady stream of voices and images flurrying in his head like a vicious never ending snowstorm. He hugged his coat around him, boots leaving faint trails in the little layer of flurries on the ground as he made his way to the forest.
"Hey, there goes Crazy Rainsley!" "Shut up you jackass, you want the nutter to hear you?"
The words carried in the silence of the snowfall, and he tugged at his ears. Alaric was an exceptionally bright individual, which was one of the reasons he had been accepted into Beauregard. But his academic brilliance was unseen by most of his peers. He was born with the Sight, and with the proper training and care, it would not effect him as it did now. But because of his parents, and their greed, his Sight was used for personal gain, for dishonesty, and wealth. Forced day after day to use it to reach out into the future and find things they wanted to know, that they wanted to use. Such acts had their consequences, and with every misuse of his gift, the wall between his own mind, his memories, and the things that he could see weakened until it had broken down altogether.
But no one knew that. To them he was just Crazy Rainsley, or someone to pity.
"Don't upset them..." He whispered to himself, keeping his eyes trained on the ground. "Mustn't upset them or everyone will die..." He whined, glancing to the side. From what Alaric could see, as clear as they day around him, there were Nundus, big beastly cats with disease in their lungs, watching him hungrily with every step he took. "You don't belong here. Too cold...too cold. Go home. Nothing for you here." The big cats had been in his sight for the past week, lurking around corners, tendrils of their toxic breath reaching out to him whenever he looked for too long, and it was only getting worse.
He had already ran panicking from the great hall earlier that day when all around him, everyone had suddenly dropped. Clutching their throats and gasping for air, falling dead at his feet and he could do naught to stop it. "Please go away. Away away away away." He raked his hands through his hair as he pleaded at nothing.

Something had turned him onto Alaric a while ago. There was a draw to him and yet he couldn't figure out why the blonde wasn't exactly in his class. Until it had dawned on him. Just like clockwork. It was as if Vincent had known that Alaric would be headed into the woods today, just as he was gathering a few fresh and wild herbs. He could hear him talking to someone, himself. Had he been anyone else he would have definitely gone and done something idiotic with the poor kid. Help. There was the call again, turning to gather what he was talking about Vincent allowed the fine mist linger before him if only for a moment.
Rainsley was out here in the woods. Alone, and from what he could tell he was quite scared. That blip of insanity was all he needed as he stood, brushing the mixture of dirt and snow from his knees. Vincent pulled his hands from his pale leather gloves and pocketed them, his own fingers lighter in color as they blended with the ever growing white surrounding them.
Near silent, Vin had gathered his things and tucked them away into the pocket of his jacket and he moved to the main path, trying to follow his ears. Listening to the tones in Alaric's whispers. Eyes closed he tilted his head to the side allowing himself to open up the world around him before taking a blind step forward. If whatever he was afraid of couldn't be seen then the problem was much worse than he had originally thought. "I'm not going away, it's safe, you're safe. Nothing is going to get you." The words hadn't left his lips until he sucked in a sharp breath. Met with a mental barrage he turned again, his feet not letting him move forward anymore as he had come to a wall. The place in the forest that even his mind wouldn't let him go. Eyes opening quickly, taking a moment to adjust and refocus.
"Alaric." Even he himself wouldn't step further into the grove. It was either that or he wasn't welcome. "Alaric, please. Come here." There was a sudden sense of panic in his own chest as he watched the boy run his fingers through his hair. Hand reaching out, palm up, open and warm. "Please." Vincent could feel his chest tightening, but he had fought it off. Too many memories were flooding him and he was certain that what the boy saw was affecting his own sight.

Alaric walked into the grove, making it to the center before coming to a sudden halt. Because from what Alaric could see, the nundus were blocking him from moving any further. He hugged himself tightly as he stood, as still as the air, pleading quietly with the monsters of his mind.
"Don't breathe.." he wasn't sure if he was reminding himself or begging at the mercy of the beastly creatures but either way he just kept repeating it, shaking his head as he tried desperately not to look at them. But with every glance upward to them, more appeared, encircling him like he was prey.
He heard the voice in his head, unaware that it belonged to someone tangible, and shook his head fervently, slapping at his ears as he believed it to be coming from one of the beasts. "Dont lie to me! It's not safe!" he whimpered, moving to back away only to hear a snarl behind him, turning to see more of the big cats keeping him there.
Panic raced through him as he saw no means of escape, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he risked a few breaths, and heard his name through the trees.
Searching for the source his eyes fell to Vincent, seeing his hand outstretched and the worry on his face, Alarics own hand reached out at him, the other covering his face from the toxic plumes surrounding him, wincing and jumping at the snapping beasts. But as quickly as he had seen a savior, Vincent's image changed. Blurry, but still horrifying to the boy.
Chunks of torn flesh gripped in his hands, gruesome fangs dribbling crimson down his face, all while beckoning him to him, promising safety. Alaric recoiled, stepping backward and tripping over a rock, landing flat on his back as the wind was knocked out of him. His scream echoing in the grove as the beasts in his mind descending upon him, his arms flailing to cover his face in terror.

The sound of his heart was drilling into Vincent's ears. The fear he could rightly see as the colors chnged dramatically. Almost had him. He almost had him by the hand to pull him out of there. There was a reason why he couldn't go any futher as he watched Alaric stumble back. Hitting the ground hard. Vin was doing his best to fight back the tears as he pressed his body through the invisible wall. Had he been mortal, human, or normal he could have passed through the barrier with ease, but still to some Vampires were seen as the darkest most dangerous creatures. Whatever was in this are didn't want that here and he knew that, but he had to keep trying.
Pressure surrounded his chest as it pressed hard against his ribs, compressing his lungs. The feeling of fingers jabbing themselves through bone, a chill gripping his heart and squeezing. Vincent hitched in his step as he scrambled to get to the boy. The differences between the two was stark as he struggled to even breathe. So he wasn't going to. Finally sucking in one deep breath he pushed forward refusing to exhale. His hand wrapping around Alaric's ankle, at this point he didn't care and he pulled Alaric across the ground out of the clearing and back into the trees. The pressure slowly releasing it's grasp on him and he could breathe once more. Vincent's lungs began to function properly once more and he pulled Alaric to him, tears hot on his cheeks. Grasping for him again to pull him into his lap and hold him tightly against his chest. "It... It's okay." Clearly Vin was still winded as he held the boy close. "You're safe. I'm not letting anything get you. Not again. Not ever. I swear."

He was terrified, truly and deeply terrified. He could feel the heat of the nundus breath on his frozen skin, the pressure of their teeth and claws against him though they left no marks. For Alaric, it was all real and it was inescapable. He curled up, shaking in a ball as cried and winced from imaginary attacks, his eyes shut tight as though it would make them all go away, but he could still see the scene around him as clear as day.
Suddenly he felt a pressure coil around his ankle, to frightened to look his hands scrambled to latch onto the earth as he began being drug away. Once again panic flashed through him, his only thoughts that the beasts were pulling him away to devour him whole, his cries echoing out through the grove as he begged for help, for it all to just stop. Until there was warmth. There were arms around him, and words once more promising his safety. He didn't dare look up for fear that he would once again see another monster and instead, sobbed against the chest of his savior, gripping the front of his shirt as though his very life depended on it.
"Please help me..." He pleaded, his body still shaking in terror. "They all keep dying... They're all around and no one sees them! Why can't anyone see them..."

The pain was almost unbearable and crushing as he pulled Alaric from the Glade. Fucking fairies and their hatred for the living dead. Vincent held onto Alaric with all his might, careful not to crush the boy as he clung to him not letting go. He would never let go. "I will help you, they will not get at you again Alaric I will not let them." Vin whispered softly and reached up to stroke the boy's blonde hair out of his face urging him to calm. "Shhh."
The shakes were tremendous in volume and he knew that he was terrified, be it him or what he saw. All Vincent knew was that he needed to be there. Without words coming from his lips, he found himself holding him closer resting his head against the boy's. 'It is not real, not yet, I fear that your mind is so open that it is muddying your ability. It has been abused, but I will help you, you just have to let me. I swear on my life that no harm will come to you. You just have to trust me.'
